Is SimplePaperwork legit?

Last updated

SimplePaperwork (simplepaperwork.com) is a website that publishes free guides to official forms and steps and fills in paperwork from your answers, such as a name change kit after marriage. It is operated by Midbyte Tec. It is not a government agency and not a law firm.

You pay once, through Stripe, only for a document filled in for you: there is no subscription and no recurring charge, and any order can be refunded in full within 7 days.

What it does and does not do

SimplePaperwork explains public forms and official steps by state, with the source and the date for each rule, and fills in documents from your answers: a name change kit (federal forms filled in with your details, your state’s checklist and notification letters) and legal forms such as a vehicle bill of sale or a power of attorney.

SimplePaperwork is not a government agency and is not affiliated with one. SimplePaperwork is not a law firm and does not give legal advice. It does not file anything for you: you review, sign and file your documents. Agency fees are paid to the agency.

Payment: once, through Stripe

Prices are in US dollars and shown before you pay: $34.95 for a name change kit (one state) and $9.95 for a legal form. Each purchase is a single payment on Stripe’s checkout page. There is no subscription and no recurring charge, and we never see or store your card number. See pricing.

What is free

The state guides and checklists are free, with no account. Government forms are free on each agency’s website. You pay for the preparation, never for the form. Each legal form on sale in your state shows a free preview before you pay.

Refunds

Full refund within 7 days of purchase, no questions asked. Write to [email protected]. See the refund policy.

Privacy

Sensitive answers you type to fill in a form stay in your browser tab: the document is generated in your browser and those answers are not sent to our server or our analytics. An order keeps your email, the product and the state, for the receipt, your order link and refunds. Read the privacy policy.

Official sources

Facts come from official pages, such as the Social Security Administration (ssa.gov), the U.S. Department of State (travel.state.gov), state agencies such as the DMV, and state laws, with the link and the date we checked each one. See how we check.
